Music for Aardvarks and other Mammals

These sessions are a great alternative to traditional children's music groups, enjoying a modern approach. Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals started in the USA, and has now made it to Sussex, providing an innovative, unique approach to music in early childhood.

Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals are informal, friendly classes featuring a wide variety of activities including dancing, musical storytelling, instrument playing, egg shaking, stick banging, scarf waving and singing songs with the guitar.

The original music by David Weinstone presents an enormous range of musical styles executed with superb musical literacy and richness of instrumentation. His songs reflect and celebrate the lives of children in today's world. Weinstone brings authentic childhood experiences to life with a sophistication and intelligence unseen in this genre and is making his mark as one of the most original and prolific children's songwriters of all time.

Each term you take home to keep a new original CD to help you enjoy the cool new songs we'll sing in class. We promise by the end of term your whole family will know all the words to all the songs and be singing at home to your favourites!

Emily is a violist with extensive classical training in the States. She is also trained in early childhood education and a mother of 2 young children. She is fascinated with the effects of music on children and the joy they receive spending time in musical environments. She moved from New York to Brighton in 2002, attended many local music groups with her children and discovered Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals is just the thing Sussex parents are looking for.
